You go about your day, keeping busy, working, playing, seeing your friends, family, coworkers.
You are actually happy, having a great day, not really thinking about the latest heartbreak.
Until you come home to your computer. And you check your emails, facebook, msn, and every other social networking tool of mass destruction. You somehow think that you will find an email from That Boy, or are reminded of times when you did receive emails from him, or talked to him online.
So this reminds you of what is missing, even though you weren't thinking about it so much before. Because you are home, alone, on your computer, hoping to feel less alone by communicating through cyberspace with people you know in real life and never see, or people you do see, or people you don't know.
And you somehow feel falsely connected to all this people, just because their faces, names, pictures, thoughts are popping up on your screen. And you hope that That Boy's name will pop up, and the mystery of his disappearance will be solved. You won't talk to him, of course, because you are definately not going to look desperate, and you don't even really want to talk to him anymore after what an ass he's been... unless he wants to talk to you.
So you sit there, refreshing your email page, checking your MSN contact list, and surf through the same people's facebook pages, looking desperately for something and finding absolutely nothing but boredom, repetition, and emptiness.
So why do we do it, every day?
